Doctors say that all diseases are from the nerves. And this is true, and also from sick teeth. Due to oral infections caused by bad teeth, pathogens spread throughout the body and not only reduce our immunity but also affect our organs and organ systems.

Why is it so important to care for your mouth, gums, and teeth?

Disease-causing bacteria, accumulation of dental plaque, irregular care of teeth and oral cavity cause a variety of diseases, and the most insidious of them are caries and periodontitis.

Why does tooth decay occur?

Dental caries are formed with improper, insufficient care of the oral cavity and develops as a result of the vital activity of bacteria.

Periodontitis is an inflammation of the tissue surrounding the tooth – the gums. This is a very insidious disease that causes tooth loss.

But caries and periodontitis can be prevented if you form the habit of brushing your teeth twice a day, and twice a year to do professional hygiene at the dentist.

And besides, you will protect your body from diseases of the whole body caused by sick teeth. Let’s deal with them in more detail.

Why do sick teeth cause diseases of the gastrointestinal tract?

The gastrointestinal tract is where bacteria, if present, enter from the mouth. Further, through the blood through the vessels and capillaries, microbes circulate throughout the body and enter other organs.

As a result, it can provoke serious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

How dental problems can affect heart disease?

If there is a disease or inflammation in the oral cavity, then the infection will quickly spread throughout the body and can provoke diseases of the organs of the circulatory system.

According to new research by American scientists, there is a direct link between the integrity of dentition is associated with heart health.

The study was carried out on 61 thousand men and women aged 45 to 69 years. It turned out that those patients who could not save even 2-3 teeth have a 23% higher risk of developing heart disease compared to patients whose teeth were completely healthy.

These studies allowed scientists and doctors to conclude that – loss of teeth leads to heart pathologies and diseases of the cardiovascular system. The reason lies in the risk of developing inflammatory processes in the blood vessels.

Sick teeth provoke the onset of periodontitis and Alzheimer’s disease

German scientists have found that bad teeth provoke the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. It is the bacteria that cause periodontitis that accelerates the development of dementia.

You need to remember the rule: healthy teeth are clean teeth. Thus we need to be more responsive to the rules of hygiene.

Sick teeth can cause diabetes

Inflammatory processes in the oral cavity affect the increase in blood sugar. If periodontitis and caries are not treated, then they can provoke the development and intensification of diabetes mellitus.

It is important to remember that a person’s health is in his own hands. Do not neglect the basic rules of oral hygiene and underestimate the professional full cleaning at the dentist.

Home and professional care and dental hygiene should become the culture of each individual and the country as a whole, then there will be no need to spend efforts on the global treatment of the body. It is no secret that it is always better to prevent disease than to cure.

The risk of osteoporosis and more depends on the health of the teeth and oral cavity

Lack of magnesium, potassium, and other trace elements in the body, as well as the risk of breaking an arm or leg from the slightest fall. Is directly related to the condition of the teeth.

Scientists have found that both age-related changes in the mouth and teeth in old age and insufficient care at a younger age are associated with a lack of many trace elements. This affects the condition of the bones, making them more fragile. The results of the study are published by Nutrients.

Effect on your teeth a lack of many trace elements:

Calcium not only makes our bones and teeth strong. Also, this trace element helps cells divide, is responsible for blood clotting, the passage of nerve impulses. Calcium-rich dairy foods, eggs, fish, nuts, and green vegetables.

Potassium is needing no less, it is responsible for muscle strength, cardiovascular and nervous systems.

Without magnesium, the heart and blood vessels, and muscles will also suffer, this element helps us to be energetic. Potassium and magnesium are in bananas, white beans, avocados, melons, green apples, seeds and nuts, pumpkins, seafood.

But for all these important trace elements for our health to be assimilated, the teeth and oral cavity must be healthy.

So don’t forget:

Brush your teeth 2 times a day, use dental floss.

Visit the dentist ideally 2 times a year, but at least annually.

Treat caries on time, do not start inflammatory processes in the oral cavity, if any.

Scientists also found that a deficiency of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and other trace elements important for bone health can harm your teeth. Therefore, timely treatment of caries, cracks in the teeth, inflammatory processes in the gums and oral cavity in general – is the prevention of osteoporosis and micronutrient deficiency.

Saliva is necessary for the normal functioning of the oral cavity, as it keeps all its tissues moist and helps cleanse the mouth. So, if you notice that you have thick saliva, it is probably due to a certain imbalance.

First, it is important to know that the salivary glands produce saliva. In the case of changes in these glands, various morphological changes in saliva occur, possibly due to chemotherapy and radiation. The saliva becomes sticky and viscous, and therefore thicker.

In addition to general discomfort, it can also lead to problems speaking, swallowing, and even breathing.

Causes of thick saliva

Thick saliva can be caused by various disorders, such as:

arterial hypertension

diabetes

kidney problems

stones or other obstructions in the salivary ducts

cancer

Parkinson’s disease

oral infections

It can also be the result of dry mouth or irritation due to hormonal changes, especially in women over 40 years.

Another very common cause is side effects that result from chemotherapy, antihistamines, antidepressants, diuretics, or analgesics.

What problems can this cause?

When saliva is too thick, it affects swallowing. You eventually begin to seem to suck rather than swallow because of the reduced lubrication in your mouth. Over time, this can lead to pulmonary aspiration.

Also, dryness and viscosity in the mouth lead to bad breath and difficulty swallowing, chewing, and talking.

There is also an increase in caries and gum disease. Also, the tongue becomes dry. This not only changes your sense of taste but also creates cracks in it. Mouth ulcers and chapped lips are also very common.

Diagnosis

There is a method of estimating saliva flow called Sialometry. It specifically estimates the amount of saliva. Doctors can also do a salivary gland biopsy to analyze and determine if there are any pathological problems.

Treatment

Treatment of damaged salivary glands is not performed. However, there are some tips for thinning saliva:

Increase the amount of water to dilute the saliva.

Moisten food with sauces, broths, etc.

Use a room humidifier.

Sleep with your head in an elevated position.

Rinse your throat.

Brush your teeth often.

Chew gum often.

Limit alcohol and tobacco use.

Reduce the consumption of spicy foods.

Dental procedures for thick saliva

It is also important to keep in mind any pre-existing illnesses or medications that the person is taking, as well as any psychological factors.

In some cases, your doctor may recommend saliva stimulants or saliva substitutes such as xylitol, aloe vera, or fluoride.

Finally, oral hygiene is very important. So make it a habit to clean your mouth thoroughly with a brush and toothpaste.

You may also want to use mouthwashes and gels, as they are very helpful for patients with this problem.

A beautiful smile that opens flawless teeth is one of the conditions for a person’s attractiveness. Long-term treatment and restoration of teeth are not always the best solution.

The best solution to the problem for busy people and for people who want to quickly get a dazzling smile will be veneers, for the installation of which requires 2-3 visits to the dentist.

Features of products

Installation of dental veneers, which are thin high-strength plates that are fixed on the surface of damaged teeth, allows you to completely transform the appearance of a person, increase her attractiveness.

An important advantage of veneers, which are an alternative to crowns, is the low trauma to the tissues of the teeth.

They hide certain shortcomings:

incorrect placement of teeth;

spots on the teeth;

notches between teeth;

chipped teeth;

cracked teeth, etc.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

variety of shades of dental veneers;

the process of installing veneers is painless;

materials used for making veneers (ceramics, composite, zirconium) are hypoallergenic and do not affect human health;

dental veneers are resistant to all kinds of food dyes;

veneers do not get plaque;

after installation, patients have no feeling of discomfort or the presence of a foreign body in the mouth.

The advantage of installing veneers is the ability to maintain healthy tooth tissue during the procedure.

Disadvantages:

a relatively short life of overlays (depending on a manufacturing material);

cost of overlays;

the presence of some contraindications (malocclusion, etc.).

Varieties of dental veneers:

Zirconium veneers have high strength. Zirconium veneers serve up to 20 years without changing the color of the enamel and without losing quality.

Ceramic veneers for a long time do not lose aesthetics and functionality. Overlays are steady against differences in temperatures and mechanical influence.

From a young age, we all got used to the fact that brushing your teeth is part of the daily ritual of personal care. However, sometimes we are not sufficiently responsible for its organization, not paying attention, for example, to the choice of toothpaste. But it must be selected individually. In this article, we will tell you how to do it.

Clean and treat

Among the most common problems that modern people face are the following:

tooth sensitivity;

enamel darkening, color coating;

caries;

the tendency to gum disease.

Each of these problems requires the obligatory intervention of a dentist – professional oral hygiene, treatment with antibacterial compounds, coating of teeth with special enamel strengthening agents, and, of course, timely treatment of dental caries help to avoid complications. But in each of these cases, the choice of home care products plays an important role. So:

If the teeth react painfully to hot or cold food, they “break”, then their type is sensitive. A special paste for sensitive teeth is suitable for you, it will strengthen the vulnerable enamel due to the content of potassium and strontium salts.

It happens that a person has strong enamel, but dark. In this case, bleaching paste is suitable. You can use it 1-2 times a week (more often than not, the enamel will suffer). The most powerful formulations contain hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, but you can only use these products with healthy teeth.

An inflammation has developed in your oral cavity, there are wounds on the gums or stomatitis aphthae. An antibacterial paste is right for you. Gentle antiseptic agents have shown themselves to be the best: they not only cope well with pathogenic microbes but also help relieve irritation and inflammation of the gums. The composition often includes extracts of medicinal plants: sage, calendula, yarrow, chamomile.

Pastes belonging to the type of anti-carious, contain mainly derivatives of fluorine and calcium. Fluorine is used to “heal” tooth enamel (it is able to close microcracks, preventing the development of a carious process). The content of this substance should not be too high: no more than 150 mg per 100 g of paste for adults and 50 mg per 100 g of children. Fluoride is contraindicated for some people – consult your doctor!

For special occasions

Dental hygiene with a braces system becomes more difficult when additional factors are present: for example if you have a braces system installed or you wear removable dentures. Children’s age also imposes special requirements – after all, the tooth enamel of babies differs from the tissues of adults.

Toothpaste for children should have a gentle composition, for example, based on dicalcium phosphate or silicon dioxide. The fluorine content should not exceed 0.025%. Many dentists do not recommend the use of fluoride in children under three years of age. Recommended RDA – no higher than 50.

If you wear braces, special attention should be paid to brushing your teeth. In addition to the standard brush and thread, you should also buy a special brush – with its help it is easier to get rid of food fragments in hard-to-reach places. Hygiene products are best chosen with high fluoride content, as orthodontic treatment makes teeth more vulnerable to caries.

If you wear dentures, do not forget to clean them regularly. Toothpaste is best chosen with mild action. Compounds with an abrasive effect should be avoided: they can scratch the surface of the prosthesis.

In addition to paste, they used special gels and rinses to care for the oral cavity.

It may appear spontaneously, it may persist for many days without some respite or periodically. It happens that it is very annoying or its initially low intensity increases with time.

This can be caused by many factors, including tooth decay, inflammation of the tooth pulp or tissue surrounding the root, exposure of the necks of the teeth, and much more.

Teeth hypersensitivity to temperature changes

Especially in cold weather, this is one of the most frequent complaints of patients. This is manifested in a sudden severe pain, located in some teeth, which appears on contact with a specific stimulus (for example, cold water) and stops after its termination. Teeth can be sensitive not only to changes in temperature, but also to sour drinks and food, as well as to mechanical factors, such as brushing or even touching. A healthy tooth is surrounded by a strong and durable enamel on the outside, which tightly covers and isolates deeper and more delicate dentin. The ducts are located in the dentin, the external factors of which can reach the pulp – the living part of the tooth, which is responsible for receiving stimuli and a painful reaction. The most commonly detected dentin is located on the neck of the tooth, because in this area the enamel layer has a small thickness. Dentin exposure occurs as a result of abrasion of the enamel layer during excessive brushing, especially when using a hard brush or whitening paste containing abrasive particles. Dentin is also found in people with periodontal disease, commonly called periodontal disease. Regardless of the cause, the best treatment is the use of mouth rinses and mouth rinses designed for sensitive teeth, and their delicate and gentle brushing.

Tooth decay

This is a disease of hard tooth tissues, the development of which is promoted by the presence of microorganisms, a diet rich in carbohydrates, and the tooth’s sensitivity to scale removal. These factors should work long enough. The pain associated with caries, occurs after consuming sweets and disappears after the cessation of this stimulus. In this situation, you should as soon as possible inform the dentist, who will remove cariously modified dental tissue and put on a seal. In turn, untreated caries can lead to inflammation of the dental pulp. This is manifested in severe pain that occurs spontaneously, and not only as a result of external factors. There may be short breaks, but usually the pain does not go away, staying the same at night. This is often hard to find. In this case, it is usually necessary to treat root canals, which consists in removing living tissue from the cavity of the tooth and root canals, thorough disinfection and filling. This is a treatment that requires at least 2 or 3 visits to the dentist.

Teething

In adults, this problem concerns the eighth teeth, called wisdom teeth. In many cases, the teeth are incorrectly located or there is not enough space in the mouth, which makes removal difficult. Pain symptoms appear periodically and have variable intensity. In this case, a good idea would be to make a pantomographic picture that will allow you to decide to leave the G8 or delete them. To reduce discomfort, you can use antiseptic mouthwash on a special basis.

Mouth pain should not be directly related to the teeth, it can also be caused by inflammation of the gums. Gingivitis, in addition to swelling, redness and bleeding, is also characterized by pain. Due to its close position it can be difficult to distinguish from toothache. The most common cause is the accumulation of plaque, so the most important method for the prevention of gingivitis is a thorough cleaning of the teeth. This is sometimes caused by mechanical irritation, so check with flossing or nothing between the teeth. To relieve pain, you can use drugs available in the pharmacy without a prescription. It is also worth going to the dentist for other reasons.

Buddhists call for becoming independent of carnal desires in order to achieve inner harmony and live in peace with oneself.

Also, Tibetan monks pay great attention to the health of their bodies, because it is the guardian of the soul. Therefore, this wise culture is able to give us a lot of useful tips regarding a healthy lifestyle.

As you know, these people prefer to live away from the noisy cities, large supermarkets and periodic medical examinations. Then how do they manage to keep their teeth whiteness and health?

Few people manage to boast such whiteness of their teeth, without spending much money on expensive procedures. To keep your teeth white, we resort to using special toothpastes and more aggressive means. And even despite all this, not everyone succeeds in achieving the desired whiteness of the teeth.

It should be borne in mind that the teeth of Tibetan monks are not only white, but also healthy. As for aesthetics, it does not matter to them.

Tibetan monks revealed the legendary recipe for preserving whiteness of teeth

Tibetan monks do not have specialty shops, but they have at their disposal a huge amount of natural products generously donated to man by nature. They allow the monks to carefully care for their health, as required by their religion.

Today we would like to share with you a recipe for traditional toothpaste, the use of which brings stunning results.

What do you need?

Salt without iodine: we are talking about pure salt, which is used for salting food and extending the shelf life of products. It can be purchased at pharmacies or health food stores.

Water

As you can see, for the preparation of this tool you do not need a lot of ingredients. To prepare this toothpaste is quite simple.

-Number of ingredients

1/2 cup water (100 ml)

1 tablespoon of salt (15 g)

Preparation

Bring water to a boil, then let it cool so that it can be used.

Add a tablespoon of kosher salt to the water.

Stir the salt thoroughly (at least one minute).

Remove the foam that appears on the surface of the water.

If you have little free time, you can heat more water. During storage, the tool practically does not lose its useful properties and continues to be effective.

How to use pasta

In a glass of water, you will notice salt crystals. That is the secret of this tool. How to use it?

Put salt crystals on a toothbrush.

Brush your teeth as usual: make a circular motion with a toothbrush so as to treat the entire surface of the teeth, including the most inaccessible corners.
Rinse your mouth with brine from a glass.

Repeat the procedure recommended 3 times a day.

As you can see, this process is quite simple and economical. Such a tooth brushing will take you no longer than usual.

If you have to eat outside, you can carry this tool with you in a bag or backpack. It is not at all difficult to do, and your teeth will thank you for such care.

Recommendations to help maintain healthy teeth

As for Tibetan monks, in addition to using this natural remedy, they also have other good habits that allow them to maintain healthy teeth.

For example, they do not smoke and do not consume alcoholic beverages. They consider these habits to be extremely dangerous, because because of them the mind becomes clouded, and we cease to distinguish the important from the secondary.

You may not agree with this idea, but this is true: quitting smoking and alcohol avoids stains on the tooth enamel and its premature wear.

Also, Tibetan monks refuse sugars, industrial baking and fatty foods. It also has a beneficial effect on dental health.

Many products we use contain these substances, as well as artificial colors, which harm our teeth.

The diet of Tibetan monks includes a large amount of vegetables and other organic products. They contain less harmful microorganisms and there are no chemical additives that are harmful to the enamel of the teeth and provoke the appearance of caries.

The recipe we shared today is the result of the wisdom of an ancient culture where people live a long life while maintaining good health.

This toothpaste is harmless, so if it does not help you, you simply stop using it. You risk nothing.

It strengthens the tooth enamel and protects teeth against the harmful effects of bacteria that cause caries. Few people are aware, however, that fluoride is also a component of psychotropic drugs, it is added to rat poison, and in high concentrations can adversely affect health. Here are 5 interesting facts about fluorine.

1. Pregnant women should not use pastes with high concentrations of fluoride

At the beginning, a reminder – oral hygiene during pregnancy is very important, as caries in pregnant women has an unfavorable effect on fetal development, pregnancy and delivery. Ladies expecting the offspring should, however, reach for pastes with a concentration of fluorine ranging from 1000 to 1500 ppm. Products of this type protect the teeth against caries sufficiently and, on the other hand, do not jeopardize the child’s health. The research shows that long-term intake of large amounts of fluoride by pregnant women may result in lowering the birth weight of the newborn, reduction of the head circumference, and even developmental disorders.

2. Fluoride is included in the composition of psychotropic drugs and rat poison

Fluoride is used in many ways – not only for the production of toothpastes or mouthwashes. We find him, among others in the composition of psychotropic drugs, because it has properties that strengthen the action of some psychoactive substances. In high concentration, fluorine is a poison much worse than lead, so it is used for the production of rat poison or insects. During the Second World War, the Nazis sometimes gave fluorine prisoners to the captured prisoners in order to make them mistype and make them submissive.

3. Fluoride is harmful to health in large quantities

Small amounts of fluoride are essential for maintaining the proper condition of the body. Depending on the age and weight of the human being, the acceptable daily dose of fluoride is from 0.7 to 3.8 mg per day. However, taking larger amounts of this substance may result in serious health problems. Researchers say that excess fluoride can cause problems with magnesium absorption, problems with the pancreas, joints, adrenals and thyroid, as well as deformities of the spine and bones. In addition, in children too high amounts of fluoride may induce lower immunity, learning disabilities and chronic fatigue.

4. Fluoride is also found in food

Many people think that fluoride is an artificial substance that is only added to toothpaste. Meanwhile, you can also find it in every day consumed products. The highest amounts of fluoride are found in black tea infusion, rye bread, cheddar cheese, pork ham and cornflakes. The natural source of this element are also yogurts, lettuce, milk, carrots, apples, bananas and tomatoes.

5. In the United States, residents have applied for fluoridation of water to the government

For the first time, water fluoridation was applied in 1950 in the United States. Even before the completion of full medical tests, it was considered the best method to prevent tooth decay. Over time, however, more and more often people started to notice that the action of fluoride was only local and not systemic, while adding it to water caused darkening and temptation of enamel. In 1978, in Pennsylvania, the residents won a lawsuit in which the harmful effects of fluoridation were proved and it was banned by virtue of the verdict.

Brush your teeth twice a day – in the morning and in the evening.

Some people prefer to brush their teeth after each meal. A number of dentists, by the way, recommend adhering to such rules, and all the allegations that with frequent brushing of teeth erased enamel, are considered unreasonable.

However, most experts say that a double brushing of teeth will be sufficient to maintain the purity of the oral cavity and prevent dental caries.

If the evening brushing of teeth is more or less clear (you need to clean before going to bed), then what about the morning procedure? When is it better to brush your teeth: before breakfast or after? The opinions of dentists differ on this score. So, some dentists believe that it is best to conduct the hygienic procedure after breakfast, in order to remove at the same time the remains of food in the oral cavity. Opponents of this approach argue that you need to brush your teeth before breakfast to clean the tongue and enamel from bacterial plaque. If you have breakfast without brushing your teeth, you will swallow the plaque along with the food. So you run the risk of getting problems with the gastrointestinal tract.

The golden rule here can be the following rule. Brush your teeth in the morning before breakfast, and after eating – rinse the mouth with water or a solution of salt.

How to brush your teeth properly

The basic movements in cleaning teeth should be “sweeping” the character. They need to be carried from the gum to the tooth edge. But a continuous move with a toothbrush top-down or side to side is not recommended, because this way you can damage the gums.

At the end of tooth brushing, it is recommended to carry out circular movements with a tooth brush. Thus, you are good polish enamel, as well as hold a massage of the gums.

As for the duration of cleaning your teeth, then this hygienic procedure should be spent 2 to 4 minutes. It is advisable to brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes.

When cleaning teeth, do not forget to clean the tongue from the plaque. The space between the teeth should be cleaned with a dental floss. It should be used gently, without injuring the gum. After this procedure, the oral cavity should be rinsed with a warm solution of salt, which will help further disinfect the mucous membranes of the mouth.
